She remained politically active throughout her career. For over 30 years, Betsy and Dick DeVos have led many political campaigns, meetings, and party organizations. According to Mrs. DeVos, there are approximately 250,000 students in public funded institutions, in the state of Columbia. Within the previous year, public schools registered an increase by nearly 40,000. Betsy and Dick DeVos started the education reforms after having their school-age children. After visiting the Potter’s House Christian School, which had been active for over 30 years, Dick and Betsy met hardworking parents who were dedicated to making the school environment conducive to their children. The frequent visits to Potter School initiated their current donations and support to other schools.
